Have you ever known someone who exudes love, even in the darkest of times? For me, that’s my Granny Pat. Although she’s currently fighting for her life, she’s still showing her love by sharing Jesus’ love to her family and friends.
Granny’s currently at home under the care of Hospice. Even as Granny struggles for every breath, fighting COPD and failing lungs, her love for her family and friends is so strong she battles through the shortness of breath and difficulty breathing to share her faith with us. She knows she has an eternal home in Heaven and wants to do everything she can to ensure her family and friends have one as well. It’s not about her, it’s about salvation and a relationship with Jesus. That’s my Granny, that’s her showing love.
She’s stressed to all of us the importance of accepting the gift of salvation. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23. It’s weighing on her heart that all her friends and family accept Jesus. She said it’s a free gift – it’s just sitting out there for you to take. She questioned, are you going to leave it sitting there on the table? “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” – Ephesians 2:8
In reality, I could write thousands of words of Granny’s example of love for her family; however, I’ll leave that for another day. It was so important for Granny to focus on salvation this weekend while visiting with family, I felt it was important to share. I truly feel this is a mission the Lord has given Granny and she is doing her very best to complete it. She’ll share her love for Him with those she loves until her last breath.
We do not know when our time on earth will come to an end; however, we can be certain of blessed assurance of an eternal home in Heaven with Jesus. Have you accepted Jesus as your savior today?
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
